The City of Raleigh provides a $70,000 Community Development Block Grant each year to DHIC to provide essential homebuying training for people like Ms. Jordan. Each year about 300 income-restricted families attend the 8-hour homebuyer workshop.
At the Home Buyer Education Course attendees will learn about loan programs that are available to help make homeownership more affordable and achievable. There are multiple programs available to help first time homebuyers achieve their dream of homeownership. The City of Raleigh also has its own first-time home buyer assistance program! Ms. Jordan took take advantage of the first time homebuyer loan programs through the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency and the City of Raleigh to provide her an affordable path to homeownership.
